utter nonsense

posted off my absetee ballot tonight as we’re leaving to go to tenerife tomorrow morning at 6am and im not going to be back here in time to post it off closer to the election. if theres a close count in babylon town, my vote will count, damnit!

listened to the new ryan adams and i like it, but im also a fanboy (fangirl??) so i dont know what that says about me. it a little all over the place, lyrically and style, but the cardinals sound VERY tight and ryan is just lost in outer space.  there apparently a book being released, i dont think im getting it.

hmm i randomly saw that the hold steady are coming back to sheffield and the leadmill. maybe theyll play the larger room this time and not given the boot for the lame school disco they hold. heh. abc and the human league are touring as well in decemeber.. ill probably go to both. ive never seen the human league perform so hopefully it be good considering theyll be in their home town (they all still live here…)

anyways i think this will be the last post until we get back on the 31st, though if things get crazy ill probably sneak off to an internet cafe and blog out my brains. or at least play around on facebook. heh.

damnit ive just discovered ive lost my photos from when i saw the hold steady in feb 2007. gaaaaaaaaaah.  they have to be somewhere… probably on mikes computer. grr.

mememememememememe!!!! ticketbastard, er ticketmaster, actually let me EXCHANGE my ticket out for better seats!! and for no charge! i heard they were allowing fans to do so in the states, but normally they dont let their policies be so transparent like this. i am shocked and sooooooo stoked. instead of sitting in bl 101 im now in section c row 23! woo! only 3 rows behind the 4*s, and it only cost me £51! i was half tempted to buy some tickets off eBay, but that means i would have to tried to get rid of my ticket.. this just saved me soo much stress and aggrevation.. who would that, ticketmaster being stress free???

So I just decided to look at my last.fm profile and noticed THIS:

So I knew Id been listening to them a lot, but not that much! all my hard earned indie credibability gone, gone gone.. Ive been using last.fm since 2005 and this is the fastest play count ive ever had! oh god. help.

im behind the times and JUST joined the iTunes music store (just to download close to you, heh) and my god, i think i might go broke. heh. just click and buy. click and buy. click and buy. ahhhhhhhhh. badbadbad. lol.

BTW if anyone is doubting the guys on their talent and creditability its a GORGEOUS song and probably the strongest on the album (shame its only available on iTunes) and just wow. When you hear it, you wouldnt have thought it was the boys and its just great. Brought me to tears the first time I listened to it in full.  Well written, great harmonies (and no autotuner!) and just their best song, ever.

So Ms Juliana Hatfield has a new record out – How to Walk Away – and I am sorta behind the times with knowing about it. I used to be a MASSIVE fan of her and the Juliana Hatfield Three (and The Blake Babies) so it makes me made I stopped caring.

Well it looks like Ive rediscovered her at the right time. The new record is great. Stand out tracks include This Lonely Love (with Richard Butler),  Just Lust & Now I’m Gone. The entire album is clearly about a woman not afraid to let go and start out on her own after she broke up with him. Not afraid to let men know they are not the ones always in control.  Juliana has grown up since the late 90s and it shows.
