On US TV last night…

The Roots’ drummer Questlove aired his anger about Jarvis Cocker’s infamous Michael Jackson stunt as the former Pulp star performed on US TV last night.

Cocker, who famously invaded the stage during Jackson’s performance at the 1996 Brit awards, debuted new single ‘Further Complications’ on The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon.

But his appearance on the programme angered Questlove, who, along with the other Roots stars, is currently part of Fallon’s house band.

In a message posted on Twitter, the drummer said: “Hmmm. Fighting the urge to get Jarvis Cocker for that MJ incident some years back.”

The 38-year-old added that Cocker looked “throwned” – an American slang term for drunk.

Cocker, who only appeared as a performer on the programme, caused controversy at the Brits when he made an impromptu appearance onstage behind Jackson.

The singer was questioned by police on suspicion of assault over the incident, but later released without charge.

During a recent appearance on the political panel show Question Time, Cocker said the stage invasion had been prompted by Jackson’s apparent decision to portray himself as Christ-like figure.

But when asked what he thought of the late singer as a performer, Cocker replied: “He invented the moonwalk.”

Seriously? This happened what 14 years ago and people are still upset over an incredibly intoxicated man taking the stage during a pop music award show and stealing the moment for a second? Jesus people get over yourselves.

Okay, its burned to dvd and Im currently watching it on my TV – woo!!

i dont know if im going to go down the taper route and do a b&p because of the international postage.. I dont know how that could work, and paypaling the cost of postage wouldnt be worth it either cause of conversion fees.  i also cant afford to send out everyone a copy, unless i can figure out a ‘tapers tree‘* with those out there who are tech savy enough to copy and burn the dvd as well. but thats assuming people know what kind of DVD burner they have. I know Mikes iMac & MacBook Pro both couldnt burn it and my PC could (which is only 7 months old) So, i cant expect everyone to go out and buy dual layers dvds and a dual layer dvd burner or a new pc just for a dvd.

Theres also the risk of putting 8 GIGS of a dvd up on a server for download. That will takes ages to upload and then forever to dl as well. I dont use torrents nor will my connection allow for that much data to be shared out. So thats not really an option. Plus the whole thing of being sued for copyright infringement

Apparently *I* can buy international postage stamps from the USPS but that still doesnt working around how Id get refunded for that cost, plus other shippings costs of bubble mailers and the dvds themselves.  (I do not want to make a profit from this)

I will share this, it what I want to do, but in the most economical way possible. Any ideas to get this across the pond without issue please let me know.

thanks.

*What’s a tape tree?
A tape tree is where someone has a show and offers to start a tree. A bunch of people email them and ask to be on the tree. The “seed” with the original tape puts together a structure, and tells everyone who they are going to get a tape from, and who they will make copies for. Then, as each person gets the show from their “parent”, they make copies for their “kids”. Eventually, everyone gets a copy of the show, and usually a few new shows in trade from their kids.

Edit: I am going to try to get this out, but its a process of finding how to do this without costing me any money.  International shipping is not cheap and a lot of people are wanting a copy (with good reason) I will keep you up to date. Please watch this space.

Thanks, Kerri x

Behind the Scenes before their Webcast on 17/07/2009.

I know I havent updated in ages, but between work and the guys being relatively quiet, so have I. I just ask you to watch this space because I might be able to share something with everyone that commemorates their webcast from Friday night. It will also help those not dealing well with the end of the Full Service tour to relive their memories :)
