Nine Inch Nails – Gave Up (Live in HD) from WhoRu? on Vimeo.

apparently interscope couldnt be bothered with giving trent back his rights for his music and wouldnt let him release a tour dvd, so to get back at them he leaked over 405 gigs of HD footage from 3 of his concerts from last year (2008). Above is one of the first fan created items to become public and widely available.

ive watched it in HD (as linked above) and this is just too fucking cool. its gorgeous. so gorgeous. a must must must watch

i wish more large profiled artists would start telling their record companies to fuck off and let the artist be.

so since i got a new computer i had to move something like 35 gigs of music over from one drive to another as my old one isnt compatible with this computer.. i also needed to move my iTunes stats, since i had about 4 years worth that i didnt want to lose… i found a great link through life hacker:

http://hifiblog.com/past/2006/05/11/howto-move-your-itunes-music-while-preserving-library-data-when-you-dont-let-itunes-manage-your-music-library/

this worked GREAT especially since i dont let iTunes control my music. it took all of 2 seconds to do it all. well recomended and it worked like a charm with iTunes (theres always a first for everything!)

Outside of The Block, I just cant stop listening to the record (might be a boston thing??). Its so good and will be overlooked by everyone.. but not here. I didnt listen to much new this year (thank you new kids for reuniting!) but what I did listen to, this is my standout… Like most good things it took a while for me to take it all in, but it was worth it. Shame it had to happen 2 weeks before New Years Eve. lol. Richard Butlers duet on ‘This Years Love’ is THE track to get you hooked in…

Want to sneak a listen? Search through this blog to find THE post ;)

He used to want to make me breakfast
But more and more he’s sleeping in
And though he doesn’t want to hurt me
I know he’ll soon be leaving

Looks like theres a sequel to the seminal Sheffield documentary ‘made in sheffield‘ and its will be called ‘the beat is the law‘ with a 2009 release. Which is very exciting to me, as I really loved MiS. Apparently on December 5th & 6th there will be a special screening of Made in Sheffield at the famous Showroom, which will also hold the debut of the full length trailer for ‘The Beat is the Law‘.  Im going to try to go depending on what my work schedule is that day..

Mr Cocker came home tonight..

DJ Jarvis after the set finished..

Im trying to upload video and when I get a moment will sort out the setlist I wrote down from the show.. stay tuned for this post here..

Edit 2:

Okay I’ve just woken up and though the show was BRILLIANT! (okay I might be a slight be biased because I’m obsessed with Jarvis, but thats besides the point) Played a great mix of old and new (those songs sound GREAT! if anyone loved Jarvis, youll love the next record!) and told a few stories.. Gave a lecture on Take Thats writing skills and his opinion of their new single as well (why put the emphasis on ‘oh’?? you generally emphasize what you want like ‘Can I have a LAGER mate’, not ‘Can I have a lager MATE’ or something like that.. the vodka is clouding my brain) and showed a few pictures of this great city (me stupidly shouting ‘Thats Sheffield’). Such a good time and such a great performer.

He was on stage for about an hour and a half and then DJ’d the remainder of the night until the venue turned into a club night.  WE stayed for most of it, but my friends wanted to get a few drinks in before the pubs closed, so off to Division street we went. I had an awesome time, and it was just as brilliant as when we saw him at the .plug last year

I still need to grab my phone and upload some video.. I dont have many pics of the performance because we arrived a little later than we wanted to and we had to stand far back underneath the over hang. The camera kept focusing on THAT instead of Jarvis. Stupid technology, not knowing what *really* matters.

So when we went food shopping last week, Mike picked up a 12 pack of these.. We couldnt tell what made this different from normal K1664, but we figured why not, since they were cheap. Well on Thursday Mike decided to reach into his beer fridge and have one. It exploded EVERYWHERE. At first we were upset and though the can had been shaken, but nope. They have these ‘widgets‘ in them, similar to those found in Guinness & John Smiths cans, and if the can is opened too quickly beer goes everywhere. There was no mention of these widgets on the can or the packaging, but it wouldnt have stopped us from buying them. The only thing is unlike Guinness & John Smiths you have to open the cans VERY slowly – kinda like opening a coke bottle thats been dropped from a vending machine – otherwise the beer goes flat and theres more on your floor than in your pint glass.

I just want to know why, if somethings not broke, then why fix it? Regular K1664 cans are fine… Oh wells, we arent buying this type of Kronenburg again.

so because i was on holiday i went on a slight binge… i coulda got through more but it was too hot and little a/c in our hotel room.  i read the following over the course of two weeks

elephants on acid and other bizarre experiments by alex boese

funny, witty and silly. great light read for the bus or the beach and will even give you some insight on how social pyschology works.

woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown by lorna martin

based on martins column in grazia magazine – conversations with my therapist – is based on the writers on journey through therapy. funny, honest and open its chick lit at some of its finest. its open and frank discussion of what its like to have your brain picked on a weekly basis and the affects of being medicated is brutal and direct. its as if bridgette jones actually sought therapy instead of falling in love with a solicitor. lol.

(sorry so big)

The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins

only half way through, but totally enjoyable.  im not big into religion or theology but i am finding it quite enjoyable. hopefully ill be able to finish it while waiting for the bus. lol.

ive also been slowly reading the following:

the island by victoria hislop

former travel writer novel about a small greek island and leprosy and the exclusion of the lepers.. its been a very slowread for me but hopefully ill get into it more as time goes on.

im behind the times and JUST joined the iTunes music store (just to download close to you, heh) and my god, i think i might go broke. heh. just click and buy. click and buy. click and buy. ahhhhhhhhh. badbadbad. lol.

BTW if anyone is doubting the guys on their talent and creditability its a GORGEOUS song and probably the strongest on the album (shame its only available on iTunes) and just wow. When you hear it, you wouldnt have thought it was the boys and its just great. Brought me to tears the first time I listened to it in full.  Well written, great harmonies (and no autotuner!) and just their best song, ever.

So Ms Juliana Hatfield has a new record out – How to Walk Away – and I am sorta behind the times with knowing about it. I used to be a MASSIVE fan of her and the Juliana Hatfield Three (and The Blake Babies) so it makes me made I stopped caring.

Well it looks like Ive rediscovered her at the right time. The new record is great. Stand out tracks include This Lonely Love (with Richard Butler),  Just Lust & Now I’m Gone. The entire album is clearly about a woman not afraid to let go and start out on her own after she broke up with him. Not afraid to let men know they are not the ones always in control.  Juliana has grown up since the late 90s and it shows.

Dont believe me, give it a listen here:
